Desert Resort
In the heart of Rajasthan, the colourful land of the Rajpurts, is
the region of Shekhawati, taking its name from the powerful Shekhawat
clan. The Legends of this historic land have been captured in the
murals and frescos of its havelis, forts, temples, and cenotaphs.
Set against this exotic backdrop is Desert Resort Mandawa.
Recreated in the style of a typical Rajasthani village, the Desert
Resort Mandawa is a verdant oasis in the midst of a stark desert landscape.
Visitors to this haven peopled by camels, peacocks, and Khejri trees,
can experience a whole new world - the aesthetic charm of the rural
without compromising on luxury or comfort.
The mystery and romance of the desert are captured in the unusual
architecture of the Resort. Created by local village-craftsmen using
mud and brick, the cottages reflect the traditional harmony between
man and nature in the region.
Each cottage and room is furnished in a distinctive style. The exteriors
are decorated with traditional lime-paste "mandana" or rice-flour
patterns which are redone daily by women from the village, while the
interiors are ornamented with mirror-work and glass beads in myriad
colours. Authenticity blends seamlessly with modernity. Each cottage
has a double-bed, and intimate sitting area, and a spacious bathroom,
complemented by woven fabric and hand-made pottery. Apart form the
cottages, guests can choose to stay in a spacious deluxe suite of
rooms.
